ROCKFISHING, COD & MARINE WILDLIFE

In the morning, we drive from the Lodge to Homer and launch the boat at the marina. We travel and fish along the southern coast, which offers magnificent views of the coastal mountains and islands. Often we fish near Seldovia (the Russian word for herring), which is an old Russian town only accessible by water. A variety of wildlife can be seen on these trips, including sea otters, seals, sea lions, whales, bears, eagles and a variety of other shore birds. This trip is the “Super Combo” of saltwater fishing, where you never know what you’re going to catch. The primary species we target are Rockfish (Black Bass), Ling Cod, Halibut and Salmon, but also catch a variety of other colorful fish. (This is an optional trip at $45/person /day – decide at the Lodge)

PRICING AND INFORMATION

FIRST RUN KINGS & TROPHY HALIBUT (May and Early June) - $3,200/person

The early run of “Spring Kings” enter the Cook Inlet this time of year on their way back to spawn. In the Spring, the Kings (keeping one/day) are most plentiful and average between 20-40 pounds. We travel the shortest distances of the year for Halibut (keeping two/day), as they are still in shallow water.

TROPHY KINGS & TROPHY HALIBUT (Late June and July) - $3,700/person

This is the only place you can catch a true ‘Trophy King”. The Kenai River boasts the largest Salmon in the world (Kenai Kings – keeping one/day) and each year they run right past our front porch. The Lodge record is eighty-four pounds, with an average of fifty pounds during this run. Halibut (keeping two/day) are still part of every saltwater day.

SILVER SALMON & TROPHY HALIBUT (August) - $3,700/person

Thousands upon thousands of Silver Salmon swim past the Lodge during this time of year. Limits are liberal on these “Silver Bullets” (keeping three/day). Fishing can be fast and furious with several hook-ups at the same time. Halibut (keeping two/day) are still plentiful and part of every saltwater day.
